How to Manage Cashflow & Capital for Amazon FBA Growth
Here's how we manage cash flow to sustain £15k+/month profit without running dry.
1. The Cash Conversion Cycle (CCC)
CCC = Days Inventory Outstanding + Days Sales Outstanding - Days Payable Outstanding
In plain English: How long from the moment cash leaves your bank account to buy stock, until it comes back with profit?
Typical FBA Cycle
- Day 0: Buy stock
- Day 7: Ship to FBA warehouse
- Day 14: Checked in and live
- Day 21: First sale
- Day 44: Amazon disburses payment
Total: 44 Days. You need to fund 44 days of operations before you see a penny back.
2. Using Credit to Shorten the Cycle
We use 0% interest business credit cards to effectively cheat the cycle.
If you pay for inventory on Day 0 with a credit card that has a 56-day interest-free period, you don't actually pay cash until Day 56. By then, Amazon has already paid you on Day 44.
Result: You get paid before your credit card bill is due. Your effective cash conversion cycle becomes negative — meaning the business funds itself.
⚠️ Warning: The Golden Rule — Pay off your credit card in full every single month. The moment you carry a balance, interest destroys your margins. This strategy only works with discipline.
3. Inventory Turn Rates
Cash flow problems are usually inventory problems. If you buy bad stock that sits for 90 days, your cash is dead.
Our Rule: If an item hasn't sold in 60 days, we liquidate it. We drop the price to break-even or even a small loss just to get the cash back. Dead cash is worse than a small loss.
4. Daily Payouts
Amazon's default is a 14-day payout schedule. This is painful for cashflow.
Once you've been selling for a while with good account health, you can request daily disbursements. This dramatically improves your cash position and lets you reinvest faster.
Conclusion
Don't just look at your P&L. Look at your bank balance. If your profit is high but your bank account is empty, you have a cash flow problem. Master the cycle, use credit wisely, and keep your inventory moving.
